When Will We Get "Taylor Swift (Taylor's Version)"? What We Know So Far

As every Swiftie knows, Taylor Swift is in the middle of rereleasing her first six albums as "Taylor's Version" — rerecorded versions that she owns. "Speak Now (Taylor's Version)" was released in July, and "1989 (Taylor's Version)" was released this October. They follow "Fearless (Taylor's Version)" and "Red (Taylor's Version)," which were both released in 2021. That leaves two albums that haven't been announced: "Reputation (Taylor's Version)" and "Taylor Swift (Taylor's Version)," the latter often referred to by fans as self-titled or debut.

Swift's debut album is in a unique position in her discography. The album was released in 2006 — when Swift was just 16 years old — and it includes some of her very first hits, including "Tim McGraw" and "Teardrops on My Guitar." However, it's the only one of her 10 albums that doesn't have a designated portion of the show in her Eras Tour. Instead, fans have only heard debut tracks during the "surprise song" portion of her shows (and Swift performs one, "Our Song," in the Eras Tour concert film).

Nonetheless, it does seem Swift will eventually rerecord and release a "Taylor's Version" for her debut album. Fans believe the album will come sometime after "Reputation (Taylor's Version)," which they expect to arrive in 2024, but Swift has yet to officially comment on the timeline of releasing her last two rerecordings. Fans are also wondering which "From the Vault" songs the debut album might have. Quite a few unreleased demos of early Swift songs have floated around online for more than a decade, including fan-favorite "I'd Lie." Swift also had a strong country twang when she recorded her first album, so fans have wondered if she will imitate that voice when rerecording "Taylor Swift," too.

Ahead, here's what we know so far.

"Taylor Swift (Taylor's Version)" Release Date

We don't currently know the release date for the "Taylor's Version" of Swift's debut album, but, of course, fans have theories. The music video for Swift's "Karma" remix (featuring Ice Spice) featured a clock in latte art, with Swift's fingers close to different numbers. A finger with a blue-painted nail was near the eight, which signified that "1989 (Taylor's Version)" would be announced in August, while a finger with a black-painted nail was near the two, making fans think "Reputation (Taylor's Version)" would be announced in February. The debut album, then, will probably be released sometime after that. Fans are also anticipating that the album will be released before the Eras Tour ends at the end of 2024.
