Kathryn Hahn Is an Advice Columnist With a Messy Life in the "Tiny Beautiful Things" Trailer

Kathryn Hahn stars as a floundering writer whose life is a complete and utter mess in Hulu's "Tiny Beautiful Things." In the forthcoming series, her character Clare's marriage is in the dumps after her husband kicks her out of their house, her teenage daughter hates her, and her once-promising writing career is now nonexistent — but she tries to turn things around when she unexpectedly lands a gig as an advice columnist.

Though Hahn's Clare believes she has no business being anyone's voice of reason, per the show's logline, she takes over an advice column called Dear Sugar — which whisks her on a self-reflective journey from her childhood to present day, forcing her to reckon with some of her unhealed wounds as she tries to rewrite her life story.

Hulu's "Tiny Beautiful Things" is based on Cheryl Strayed's best-selling collection of the same name. The author, who also serves as an executive producer alongside Hahn, opened up about working with the "WandaVision" actor in a recent interview with People. "She has this extraordinary way of being funny and deep and vulnerable and smart and exceptional and also like all of us in her every move," Strayed told the outlet. "I feel so honored she said yes to this role. She's sheer brilliance."

Hahn isn't the only big name attached to the new series — Reese Witherspoon and Laura Dern are producers as well, and it's not the first time they've collaborated with Strayed on a project ("Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail"). "The long road to adapting 'Tiny Beautiful Things' for television began with the friendship forged among Reese and Laura and I back when we were making 'Wild' together," Strayed added. "We knew we wanted to collaborate on another project because, quite simply, it's so much fun to work with people you love and respect. And of course, that wonderful collaboration only deepened and expanded when Lauren Levy Neustadter, Liz Tigelaar, Kathryn Hahn, and so many others came on board."
