Kate Middleton's Bound to Repeat These Looks in 2017

Last year, the duchess of Cambridge really shook things up when it came to her wardrobe, and it made us excited to see what she has in store for 2017! In 2016, she chose edgier and more contemporary designers, as well as new shapes and styles. She dared to bare a little more skin and experimented with bolder colors and prints. Here we take a look at the outfits and designers that we hope will inspire her further in the year to come . . .

It has to be one of the freshest looks of the duchess’s year: a cocktail dress with a twist. The vibrant red in an asymmetric neckline and unusual midi length was a fashion fist pump — and the wonky Soru pearl earrings worked perfectly. Kate chose the black version a few months later at a charity reception in London, and we can't wait to see more of her in the quirky label.

Missoni

Kate has worn Missoni before, but this was the look that showed she's going in a whole new direction with her wardrobe. The duchess has opted for a retro flavor before, but it wasn't until this engagement in France that she executed such a chic throwback look so wholeheartedly — from the pillbox hat to the hairnet and the silhouette of the coat to the outsize pearl earrings. However, the iconic Missoni print kept things fresh.

A new label for Kate gave a distinctly Jackie O flavor. London-based Eponine specializes in retro-looking fabrics like houndstooth and tartan, as well as bold tribal colors.

The London-based, Brazilian-born designer was chosen by Kate for a bolder new look back in July, and the look drew attention for baring the duchess's shoulders and for its contemporary and structured shape.

The dress was a quietly stylish and fresh look for Kate during her tour of Canada. The ruffled neckline was reminiscent of lots of Princess Diana's outfits, but the design and fabric brought the look bang up to date.

Another new look for Kate in 2016 was the ’70s style, boho-flavored midi dress with a blouse sleeve. She wore similar silhouettes by many different designers over the course of the year, but this colorful number was one of the best.

Kate has called upon her number-one designer for many occasions this year, and of course she has wardrobes chock-full of McQueen — but this is the year she started taking some more risks with her choices. In the past, Kate has called upon the fashion house mainly for full-length showstopper gowns and colorblock coats, but this year has been all about the prints. This one at Wimbledon features jewels, skulls, lipsticks, flowers, and stopwatches.

This crisp red and white number in Canada is another favorite.

Princess Diana's favorite milliner started designing for Kate this year, and she has now worn two of his designs. First up was this fab retro piece that Kate wore to the Commonwealth service back in March. The shape is totally different to her usual cocktail hat shape, and we loved it. She wore her second John Boyd number to the Remembrance Service in November.

The duchess never fails to wow in dazzling sapphire blue, and this year she wore two pieces in her signature color by a new designer. It's not uncommon for Kate to favor artisans from a country she will be soon be visiting, and ahead of her tour of India, she chose to wear two dresses by Indian-born, London-based designer Saloni Lodha. With the rich colors and slightly different look for Kate, we hope to see more in the coming months.

Kate has worn D&G before, but this year she pulled it out of the bag with two of the design house's dresses and looked fabulous on both occasions. Our favorite was this simple but stunning bottle green dress that she wore in Canada, but the white lace number she chose for Ascot was also pretty special.

Following in the footsteps of Michelle Obama, Beyoncé, and Madonna, Kate chose a fresh and funky full-length Self-Portrait gown for the premiere of A Streetcat Named Bob in November. She styled the look with a lick of liquid eyeliner.

The superstar's favorite is new in Kate's wardrobe, but we're hoping to see more. Carolina Herrera is also one of Queen Letizia of Spain's go-to designers, so it would be great to see more of her pieces in another royal repertoire.

Another one of Kate's favorites — but this outfit for touching down in Canada was perfection. Some of Kate's tour arrival outfits haven't been as admired in the past, but everything about this one is spot on — from the shape, to the collar, sleeves, and coordinated hat — makes us want to see more of the same.

Kate wore the US designer for the first time in India, and although it wasn't a wow piece, we think the whimsical and quirky label is a good look on the duchess, and it would be intriguing to see more.
