Ashley Graham's Plunging Met Gala Gown Has the Most Dramatic, Exaggerated Corset

On Monday, May 1, celebrities hit the red carpet at the 2023 Met Gala to celebrate a great and prolific, if complicated, designer, Karl Lagerfeld. And while Ashley Graham never walked in a Lagerfeld show herself, she is a true icon in the fashion world and a mainstay at the Met Gala every year.

At the 2023 ball, Graham chose to wear a plunging corset gown. The dress featured a black neckline with dramatic off-shoulder detail, a pink fitted bodice, and an exaggerated-hip silhouette. At the bottom of her gown, the design exploded into a mermaid hem with a pool of black fabric around her ankles. The supermodel finished her striking look with soft pink makeup, fingerwaves, and flipped ends.

She's been working with stylist Emily Evans for recent events, and Evans has effortlessly styled the model in everything from a distressed T-shirt and jeans to long, flowing black-tie gowns. And as the evening is such a huge event in the fashion world, she knocked it out of the park with her latest look.

Lagerfeld, who died in 2019, is being celebrated at this year's Costume Institute exhibit, having been at the helm of design houses such as Chanel, Fendi, his own namesake label, and others over his long career.

Lately, Graham has been keeping it casual, taking to Instagram in a high-cut bikini at the beginning of April and a denim cutout dress for an impromptu photo shoot during an evening out in NYC. She also partnered with Karlie Kloss, wearing a knit sweater dress to speak about the pressures of snapback culture and how she takes everything one Instagram at a time.
