YES! I am giving up all sweets, crisps, chocolate (except over 70% solids as I'm in revision period), fizzy drinks and only allowing one night of drinking a week. Good luck everyone in whatever you are giving up!

Wow! I'm baffled and a bit taken aback that you would include lattes, red wine and dark chocolate on a list labeled UNHEALTHY foods to give up for Lent. Nonfat lattes, small pieces of dark chocolate, and a glass of red wine now and then are all on my list of acceptable treats. I am very health-conscious and would never bat an eyelash in choosing these items as my treats, because they are not unhealthy by any stretch of the imagination. Anything in moderation is perfectly okay, but these items in particular have all been regaled for their various health benefits. Fitsugar, I'm disappointed.

I'll preface this by saying I am a fallen Catholic -- but it really grinds my gears when Lent is seen as a "diet season."  Lent is about penance - giving up something that is a vice for you, to remind you of Christ's suffering. If giving up soda is truly a sacrifice for you - go for it - but the true meaning of Lent goes so much deeper than 140 calories saved per day.

Sweet. I drink Pepsi One so I guess I don't need to worry too much about the soda calorie thing ;)
