Candy Corn M&M's

Candy Corn M&M's

While a fun concept, Candy Corn M&M's proved overwhelmingly sweet. Moreover, some felt that they didn't taste much like candy corn. We'd eat a couple pieces if a bag was sitting in front of us, any more and we'd go into a sugar coma.

Dark Chocolate M&M's

Dark Chocolate M&M's

If we didn't see the bold purple wrapper, we may not have guessed that Dark Chocolate M&M's were made with a higher-cacao chocolate than the norm. "Like dark chocolate for people who don't really like dark chocolate," as one taster put it, these merely tasted a hair less sweet than their milk chocolate cousins, without any added complexity.

Coconut M&M's

Coconut M&M's

More evocative of Hawaiian Tropic than of the actual tropical fruit, Coconut M&M's still won a few fans who didn't mind the artificial coconut flavor. If you love coconut, try a bag: you might just side with the minority.

Pumpkin Spice M&M's

Pumpkin Spice M&M's

Before you try Pumpkin Spice M&M's, a quick preface: these have little in common with pumpkin itself, but rather taste like chocolate spiked with the spice blend commonly used in pumpkin pie, muffins, and lattes. As cinnamon M&M's, they're a satisfying treat; pumpkin, not so much.

Milk Chocolate (Classic) M&M's

Don't get us wrong — Milk Chocolate M&M's may be a classic, but that doesn't mean that they're our favorite of the bunch. Some tasters ranked them highly, passionately praising them as perfect, but many others docked them for being boring, "just fine," and worse, tooth-achingly sweet.

06
Pretzel M&M's

Pretzel M&M's

Do you avoid M&M's because they're too sweet for your palate? Pretzel M&M's might be the flavor for you. Like a chocolate-covered pretzel with a brightly colored candy shell coating, these crunchy candies proved dangerously addictive, thanks to their salty-sweet balance.

Dark Chocolate Peanut M&M's

Dark Chocolate Peanut M&M's

You might think that Dark Chocolate Peanut M&M's would edge out classic Peanut M&M's, but while it was a close race, that simply wasn't the case. Still, many tasters preferred their slightly more sophisticated flavor.

04
Dark Mint M&M's

Dark Mint M&M's

"Perfect, seriously perfect" essentially sums up our feelings about Dark Mint M&M's. Crunchy, chewy, and with a just-right hit of mint, they were even dubbed "candy crack."

03
Almond M&M's

Almond M&M's

If you're powerless before a tub of chocolate-covered almonds, then watch out: Almond M&M's may prove just as tempting. Our one question: how do they find almonds small enough to fit in the candy and chocolate shell? Burning question aside, these are simple treats done right.

Peanut M&M's

Peanut M&M's

Wondering how Peanut M&M's edged out their dark chocolate analogue? We suspect these are just so good that they can't be improved upon.

Peanut Butter M&M's

Peanut Butter M&M's

Before we set out to taste the whole lot of flavors, we had a strong suspicion that Peanut Butter M&M's would edge out the competition, and turns out, we were right. When it comes down to it, the combination of salty peanut butter and sweet milk chocolate is impossible to beat, making these frighteningly addictive. Not that we're complaining . . .
