Melissa d'Arabian Slams Haters of Mariah Carey's NYE Performance

Mariah Carey's New Year's Eve performance during Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve left people talking after it didn't go according to plan. Plenty of viewers are hating on Mariah's lip-syncing performance, but Melissa d'Arabian took a moment to speak out against all the negativity. The former Food Network Star winner took to Facebook on Jan. 1 to share her opinion on why we shouldn't be so quick to judge Mariah slip — or other people's mistakes, for that matter. "Her sound went out and it just plain — pardon my language — sucked," Melissa admitted of Mariah's surprising performance. But she continued, "We dare blame those who are brave enough to be out there on a stage giving us their all while we sit on our cushie bottoms wrapped in fleece blankets holding up judging cards like cranky Olympic judges suffering from jet lag . . . Why are we OK with being so mean?"

While Melissa does understand where the naysayers are coming from, she's encouraging her fans to think with more compassion, applaud people for their efforts, and be slower to judge when things are less than perfect. "They say to be the change you want to see. So this is the year when I decide to side with the do-ers and celebrate the blood and dust on their brow. Thank you, Mariah, for calling on me to raise my game." Read Melissa's full Facebook post below.
