Mariah Carey's iconic hit "All I Want For Christmas Is You" has made her the undisputed queen of the holiday as far as music is concerned, but the singer wasn't quite able to keep the momentum going when she performed during Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve in NYC on Saturday night.

After taking the stage in Times Square, Mariah, clad in a glamorous sequined leotard and heels, suffered a lip-syncing mishap to "Auld Lang Syne." Then, as the music changed to her 1991 hit "Emotions," she appeared visibly frustrated as she walked around the stage and repeatedly asked for monitors to be turned on during her performance. "Trying to be a good sport here," she said about the technical glitch, explaining, "We didn't have a check for this song. . . we're missing some of the vocals, but it is what it is. I'm just going to let the audience sing. We didn't have a sound check for this New Year's baby, it is what it is." Before leaving the stage, Mariah could be heard saying, "I wanted a holiday too, can't I just have one?" A few hours after her performance, she took to social media to vent writing, "Shit happens 😩" alongside a GIF of her shrugging. "Have a happy and healthy new year everybody!πŸŽ‰ Here's to making more headlines in 2017 πŸ˜‚."
