Yes, You Should Give Mulled Wine a Fizzy Spin

I love mulled wine, but it does tend to get a bit strong on the spice side after it's been simmering all night long. Well, get out your slow cooker, and put it to good use to keep your next batch at the perfect temperature — and flavor. Instead of sticking with traditional cinnamon sticks and star anise, freshen things up with cranberries and orange slices.

Line up the glasses alongside your slow cooker so guests can serve themselves and finish off the drink with a touch of fizz. Really, so good.

INGREDIENTS

    • 8 ounces cranberry juice
    • 3 ounces Smirnoff vodka
    • 1 orange, sliced
    • 1 cup fresh cranberries
    • 1 750-milliliter bottle red wine
    • 4 bottles Smirnoff Ice

    INSTRUCTIONS

    1. Pour the cranberry juice and vodka in the slow cooker, and add the orange slices and cranberries, which give the wine a sweet and bright flavor.

    2. Add the wine, and set your slow cooker to high, and let warm for 30 minutes, then turn it down to medium.

    3. To serve, ladle into a mug, only filling halfway with the wine. Then top with Smirnoff Ice, and enjoy!
