Sugar Cut-Out Cookies

INGREDIENTS

    • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
    • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
    • 1 cup unsalted butter, cold
    • 3/4 cup sugar
    • 2 eggs, at room temperature
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • Royal icing, for decorating
    • Sanding sugar, for decorating

    INSTRUCTIONS

    1. Turn out dough on a lightly floured surface, and knead gently to completely combine the dough. Flatten into a round parcel, and wrap with cling film. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour, then roll dough to a 1/4-inch thickness. Cut into desired shapes, and bake for 12 to 15 minutes based on the size of the cookie cutouts. Allow to cool before decorating with royal icing and sanding sugar.
