It was the guiltiest of guilty pleasures: a Lifetime soap opera that features some of our favorite Latina actresses in over-the-top roles that are so dramatically delicious, tuning in on Mondays almost required a pint of ice cream.

But in addition to the plot twists and theatrics (plus the fact that it was executive produced by Eva Longoria), one of our favorite reasons to tune in to Devious Maids each week was to check out what the characters are wearing. And we even picked up a few style lessons from the girls! Keep scrolling to see six tips we got from the show before it was tragically canceled.

Printed Pants Look Good on Curvy Girls Too

While many girls blessed with thighs and a booty might shy away from printed pants that accentuate their assets, Carmen — played by Roselyn Sanchez — flawlessly pulled off any design you throw her way, wearing jeans that perfectly hug her body.

02

When in Doubt, Go Floral

Judy Reyes's character Zoila showed that fun florals can look great all year round, from Spring to Fall, for a wedding, a work event, or even a date night. We loved the beautiful color combination and abstract print in this sophisticated frock.

03

Nothing Makes a Statement Like a Fun Party Dress

As an aspiring singer, Carmen wasn't afraid to make a statement — so she went full-on party glam with floor-length, glitzy beaded gowns and feathery minidresses, which would work for a wedding or even a fancy Summer day party on a boat.

04

Monochrome Always Looks Professional

The Devious Maids knew that the easiest way to look professional without having to put too much thought into your look is to dress in all black. A button-down shirt and pencil skirt is the easiest work-appropriate outfit to put together.

05

Don't Be Afraid to Take Risks

While some might encourage you to shy away from too many crazy patterns and bright colors at once, the characters in Devious Maids fearlessly rocked funky geometric looks, proving that if it feels good, it will look good.

A Bustier Is Still Just as Cool as When Selena Wore It

Remember when in Selena, the singer's dad freaked out about her revealing bustier? It was trendsetting back then, and years later, Devious Maids's Valentina (played by Edy Ganem) showed that it's a lasting style. Throw on your tried-and-true gold accessories, and you've got a fun Summer weekend or festival look.
