See the J.Crew Crewcuts Collection Designed by a 5-Year-Old Girl

When a major retailer announces that a 5-year-old is going to create a capsule collection, you worry that business has taken a bad turn. Until you realize that the kid in question is Mayhem, the girl known for the immaculate arts-and-crafts re-creations of red carpet dresses she makes with her mom. If you're like us, you'll buy whatever she's selling.

And today, she's selling an adorable array of girls' clothes and accessories for Crewcuts, the children's division of J.Crew. This time, however, the garments aren't made from leftover construction paper. A few months ago, she and her mom, Angie, visited the J.Crew headquarters to collaborate with the design team on a whimsical, precocious approach to the nine-piece offering. And she just came back – with some friends in tow – to see the finished pieces (her favorite is the printed romper "because she likes the design best") for the first time and to, of course, play dress-up.

Read on to see photos of Mayhem testing out the line, get an up-close look at every piece, and shop your favorites now!
