The Spread the Love Project Is an Emotional Exercise Every School Should Do

Middle school is a tough place to be for a lot of kids, between bullying, body-image, self-esteem, and trying to fit in. Mrs. MacArthur, an eighth grade health teacher, decided to do something about the social pressures her students face by trying an inspiring exercise with her students called the "Spread the Love Project."

The project required one student to sit in the front of the classroom while his peers wrote nice things about him on the whiteboard. After everyone finished, the student would turn to see the things his classmates had to say. The honest comments ranged from "You have nice hair" to "I forgive you for all of the times you made fun of me" — all evoking emotion from the singled-out students.

The project took the class a week to complete, and Mrs. MacArthur says the response was incredible. Watch the heartwarming video of the project above.
