This Miracle Baby's Reaction to Seeing Her First Snowfall Will Absolutely Melt You

When one mom went in for a 12-week sonogram, she envisioned an afternoon filled with happy tears and exciting news. Instead, the family was left devastated to learn that there was something wrong with their baby's heart.

This crushed mom, who opted not to give her full name but is identified as J. Morton‎, shared with Love What Matters' Facebook page that she left her appointment after being told to prepare for a miscarriage or stillbirth. "I was told she will not survive," Morton wrote. "My baby fought her way to 18 weeks as her heart beat slower and slower. With each new appointment seemed to come another diagnosis, another heartbreak and a waterfall of tears."

Although one doctor advised her to come to terms with the fact that her baby was going to be stillborn and to "save herself the pain," this determined mom didn't give up hope. "We continued to celebrate our baby's life, no matter what odds were against her," Morton wrote. "We had a reveal party, a baby shower, and even made a beautiful nursery."

As the pregnancy progressed, the baby's heart rate decreased but their little girl fought in and out of heart failure to 37 weeks before being delivered via C-section. Despite having open-heart surgery at just 6 days old, Clara Ray continued to overcome the odds and was sent home a month later.

"She is a miracle," Morton wrote. "This is her seeing her first snow fall. She absolutely loved it. I can't explain the emotions we felt as we watched that smile come across her face."
