Rudy Giuliani Is Here to Offend Women With This Sexist Question

Rudy Giuliani appeared on ABC this weekend to: 1. address the recent New York Times article that revealed Donald Trump's state tax returns from 1995, and 2. belittle women everywhere. The Times reported that Trump declared a $916 million loss that year, which could have allowed him to avoid paying income taxes for up to 18 years.

"Don't you think a man who has this kind of economic genius is a lot better for the United States than a woman?" said Giuliani, former mayor of New York City and one of Trump's most controversial surrogates. While most people have criticized Giuliani for saying it was genius of Trump to take advantage of the tax laws, his comments that a failed businessman would be more suited for the White House than a woman are even more troubling. (You can catch his words at the 4:38 mark.)

"The only thing she's produced is a lot of work for the FBI checking out her emails," added Giuliani. Maybe Mr. Giuliani had a brain freeze a la Gary Johnson and forgot all of Hillary Clinton's accomplishments as a lawyer, first lady, New York senator, and President Obama's secretary of state.

"Perhaps what we have here is a demonstration of the way Giuliani really thinks about men and women — a truth about his ideology — that escaped in that statement," wrote Janell Ross in The Washington Post. "Trump's questionable behavior, as a man, is evidence of his genius. Clinton's questionable choices regarding her email and server, as a woman, is evidence of the opposite."

Indeed, Giuliani's comments reflect why many women are fed up with the tone of this election.
