To be honest, I never actually understood the need for using highlighters in my makeup. I didn't see a reason for adding it to my daily makeup routine. But I was scrolling on TikTok one day, and I noticed that my entire For You Page was raving about the Dibs Beauty Status Stick Highlighter ($36). I immediately wanted to try it and learn what all the hype was about.
And let me just say, the Dibs Highlighter made me realize I was missing out — big time. It's easy to apply and gives you an extra boost of shine, and it can be applied not only on your cheekbones, but also on your brow bones, collarbones, and the rest of your body. This is the first highlighter in my makeup bag, and it did not disappoint. Keep scrolling to read my full review on the Dibs Beauty Status Highlighter and why it has become a crucial step in my makeup routine.
I love that the Dibs Beauty Status Stick Highlighter helps accentuate my natural features. It levels up my natural makeup look without looking too overdone. After applying it on my cheekbones and collarbones, I noticed it instantly gives me a nice natural glow, bringing my skin to life. When wearing tank tops or shirts that show off my neck or chest, this highlighter takes it to another level.
It comes in different shades: Good Life Gold, Unbothered Bronze, and High Road Highlight. I fell in love with the latter, which smells like a freshly baked cake. According to the brand, it's packed with skin-care ingredients, which explains why it feels so soft and hydrating. It feels so light that I forget I'm wearing it. I also love how effortless it is to use. I don't need a brush to apply it; I can simply use my fingers to blend it in.
The brand recommends applying it "on your favorite features from your cheeks, brow bones, collarbones, and shoulders to your shins." And they're not kidding: this highlighter stick is so versatile, it can also be used as a lip liner, as demonstrated by TikToker Kim Lloyd. I tried it out for myself by dabbing a little bit of the product onto my fingertip and blending it onto my lips, and it turned out amazing. The glimmer was super subtle, but still made a difference.
I've also applied this highlighter stick over my makeup to brighten up my cheekbones, which is my favorite way to use it. My fingertips are the perfect tool for blending it out. If applying to your body, the brand recommends "allowing two to four minutes after blending before getting dressed to set the glow."
It's important to note that for me to achieve my desired level of glow, I had to apply multiple layers; it's very sheer if you only swipe it on once.
