As someone who sticks to a natural makeup look, I yearn for new ways to keep my makeup routine fresh and exciting. I was in search of something subtle, but at the same time, something that would make my eyes pop. After seeing the blue eyeliner trend on TikTok, I knew I had to try it out.
For the longest time, I couldn't find a colored eyeliner that satisfied my needs. I wanted it to be long lasting, waterproof, smudge proof, and fade proof. Whether I'm dancing or working out, I most certainly don't like to sweat off my makeup. I also need it to be easy to use because I'm terrible at applying it. I prefer pencils over any other type because they allow me to sketch my wing shape before filling it in, giving me more control. With all of that in mind, I started my eyeliner quest and came across the NYX Professional Makeup Epic Wear Liner Stick ($9).
This eyeliner pencil from NYX is cruelty free, easy to use, and affordable and delivers 36 hours of waterproof, smudge-proof, and fade-proof wear. There are so many shade options to choose from: blue, green, and turquoise are just a few of my favorites. They're perfect for adding a pop of color to the eyes, whether you use them on your waterline or upper eyelid.
This eyeliner comes in a variety of colors, allowing you to really get creative. In the past, I have used thicker, marker-like eyeliners that would smudge all over my hands. This one doesn't smear when you apply it, making it super fast and easy to use.
I normally don't wear a full face of makeup, but when I go to work or an event, I like to add a little something extra. These eyeliners remind me that I don't need full glam to look or feel my best. If you are in search of something colorful like I was, I recommend purchasing one of the bolder shades like Turquoise Storm, Aqua, Green, Cosmic Yellow, or Teal.
I like to use this eyeliner to create a standard wing on my upper eyelid, but you can get creative with it and apply it to your waterline or draw on a graphic design. There really isn't a right or wrong way to wear eyeliner. Makeup is art, so have fun with it.
Once you put this eyeliner on, it's not coming off. Because of this, I recommend having a makeup remover on hand for when you want to take it off — or if you make any mistakes. Coconut oil, micellar water, or makeup wipes all work great. I used Vaseline because it's what I had on hand, and it removed the pigment effortlessly.
I also wish it came with a sharpener and recommend getting yourself one if you don't have one in your kit already. It's a necessity when it comes to pencil eyeliners.
This eyeliner is available at Target, Ulta Beauty, Macy's, and Amazon.
