Demi Lovato and Wilmer Valderrama have called it quits. The "Confident" singer announced the news via Twitter on Friday with a heartfelt note explaining that the couple decided that they are "better as best friends."

Demi and Wilmer began dating in 2010, and are just one of the many pairs who have broken up this year. The couple shared many sweet moments throughout their relationship, and Demi has credited the actor with being a huge source of support throughout her battles with bipolar and eating disorders. The news comes just days after the death of Demi's great-grandmother, who passed over the Memorial Day weekend.
