Just Some Casual Dream Casting For American Crime Story's Lewinsky Season

When it comes to American Crime Story, it seems like nothing is off-limits for creator Ryan Murphy. With The People v. O.J. Simpson under his belt and confirmed seasons about the Hurricane Katrina aftermath and the 1997 murder of designer Gianni Versace, the TV genius has added another project to the list. This week, FX reportedly signed up for a season on the Clinton/Lewinsky scandal, which rocked the political world back in the '90s. Naturally, we came up with a few casting ideas, many of which have been culled from Murphy's pool of go-to stars.

01

Monica Lewinsky

Lucy Hale

Hale certainly has the look to embody the White House intern. Maybe Murphy could branch out from his regular picks and rein her in for this one.

Lea Michele

Between Glee and Scream Queens, Michele has proven her prowess and her relationship with Ryan Murphy. We could see her snatching up the Lewinsky role in a second.

02

Hillary Clinton

Sarah Paulson

Paulson is the obvious pick here, because she's clearly one of Ryan Murphy's favored actresses, and she slays every role she tackles. In light of the way she took on Marcia Clark, we think she'd nail it.

Connie Britton

Given the fact that Britton returned to Ryan Murphy's kingdom to play Faye Resnick in the first season of ACS, it would make sense for her to come back for season two.

Lily Rabe

Another Murphy favorite! Seeing as Rabe knows how to rock a wig (shout-out to Shelby from American Horror Story: Roanoke), we have faith that she could pull off a dignified Hillary Clinton look in a heartbeat.

03

Bill Clinton

Dylan McDermott

Granted, it's been a while since McDermott vanished from the Murphy universe. He last appeared in American Horror Story: Asylum. Even so, he could totally dust off his skills, dust some salt and pepper into that hair, and make it work.

John Slattery

Just look at this handsome white-haired gent! He's got the look down pat.

04

Paula Jones

Emma Roberts

Paula Jones, the original Clinton accuser who sued for sexual harassment, would play a crucial part in the season, and we think Roberts has what it takes to do her justice.

Lady Gaga

Gaga might seem like an unorthodox choice, but consider how The People v. O.J. Simpson featured heightened versions of the real-life figures. We're talking along the lines of Faye Resnick and Kris Jenner. Gaga might be an excellent fit for a hyperbolized Jones.

05

Betty Currie

Angela Bassett

Bassett has proven time and time again that she can nail just about any role Ryan Murphy hurls her way. Sure, the actress may seem on the young side (where, oh where did she find the Fountain of Youth?), but we have faith some makeup and wigs would do the trick.

06

Linda Tripp

Kathy Bates

Let us not forget the civil servant who surreptitiously recorded the phone calls between Clinton and Lewinsky. Kathy Bates, who has played her fair share of Ryan Murphy characters, would be an excellent fit.

Mare Winningham

Perhaps Winningham's strongest attribute is her chameleon-like ability to disappear into her roles. For instance, it might surprise you to know she's been on three separate seasons of American Horror Story: Coven, Freak Show, and Hotel. She could totally vanish into this character, too.

07

Sidney Blumenthal

John Travolta

And who for the former aide of Bill Clinton and longtime confidante of Hillary Clinton? We pick John Travolta.

Stephen Colbert

Or, you know, here's a pick out of left field! Colbert's got the look down, and you never know: maybe he's always wanted to get into some dramatic acting. You never know, OK?!

08

Vernon Jordan

Courtney B. Vance

Considering how hard Vance slayed in The People v. O.J. Simpson, we have no doubt he'd shine as Bill Clinton's unofficial advisor.

James Pickens Jr.

He would definitely be a newbie in the Murphy-verse, but he's got years and years of experience as Richard Webber on Grey's Anatomy. It would be a piece of cake for him.
