Besides being a low-key dreamboat, Charlie Puth also happens to be gifted with perfect pitch and has a knack for beautiful arrangements. The young singer-songwriter first became a radio favorite when "See You Again," his emotional hit with Wiz Khalifa for Furious 7, dropped. Now onto his third album after critical acclaim for Voicenotes, Puth is back on the road serenading us with new songs using his acrobatic and downright sexy voice. While Puth inevitably sounds great any time he's on stage, he's definitely had standout performances over the years — scroll ahead to watch the best of the best! You want to see them again . . . and again.
If you ever get the chance to introduce Charlie Puth to your mom, maybe don't? In his new hit, "Mother," the singer crooned about doing naughty things with his partner that would not get a mother's approval. It's such a cheeky, upbeat song, and it looked like he had a lot of fun singing it on Ellen.
With an old-timey, out-of-tune piano, Puth performed Ariana Grande's "Boyfriend" at a fake green screen pub when he stopped by Capital FM. He didn't sing very much here, but his piano skills were no doubt epic, as he also threw in an impromptu Bond theme and Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" in this breezy jam session.
"The Way I Am" is all about Puth's rise to fame and the challenges that come with it. This rousing, emotional performance showcased a rock-and-roll side to the singer that we don't see very often, and the epic guitar riffs sounded just as good live as they did on the album.
Puth has done a lot of covers, and this is probably his most emotional one by far. This rendition of "In My Blood" brought out a sweet and vulnerable side to Shawn Mendes' original song.
In 2018, the singer-songwriter dedicated "Change" to the students affected by the Parkland school shooting, originally recording it with James Taylor. At the March of Our Lives event in Los Angeles, Puth played the song solo with just his piano. Suffice it to say, he struck up a moment both somber and hopeful with a beautiful vocal performance.
Puth gave a fresh and soulful performance of "Done For Me" at The Voice. Sure, Kehlani wasn't in the live version, but Puth held on his own here.
"Attention" is a damn bop. Of course Puth, who has perfect pitch, was going to nail this live performance on Ellen. Not only did we get to hear that fun, signature funky beat, but we also got a cool, stripped back arrangement at the beginning that really highlighted Puth's beautiful voice.
Puth's falsetto weaved effortlessly in and out of this performance of "How Long," and um, yeah, we're obsessed!
Even though they had a short-lived rumored romance, we'll never forget this gorgeous collaboration between Puth and Selena Gomez. Poppy, but emotional is a perfect sweet spot for them (hello "Lose You to Love Me"), and they sounded great together.
Here's one of the earliest times Puth showed off his vocal and piano chops — at the AMAs in 2015. Of course, while the performance was cute, and they both sounded great, their infamous onstage kiss set the internet ablaze.
"See You Again" put Puth on the charts, and he definitely always sounds great singing the tribute to Paul Walker. But Wiz Khalifa rapping plus Lindsey Stirling playing the violin passionately by his side really elevated this Billboard Music Awards performance to a whole new level.
