Fans just can't get enough of Deadpool. It was a smashing success at the box office, featured a "killer" soundtrack, and of course, it also starred the devilishly handsome Ryan Reynolds. So, it only makes sense that everyone is super pumped about the movie's upcoming sequel! While Reynolds is reprising his role as the antihero, there are also quite a few new additions as well. Now that we have an official release date for the film and some new teasers, familiarize yourself with the key details here.
Fox officially confirmed that Reynolds will be back as the Marvel antihero, and so far he's starred in all of the sequel's hilarious teasers.
After creative differences with Reynolds, the original director for Deadpool, Tim Miller, has left the project. Following his exit, the first film's composer Tom Holkenborg, revealed in a Facebook post that he will not continue in the franchise, either. Luckily John Wick director David Leitch is now on board.
If you stayed for the ending credits for Deadpool, you would have seen Deadpool teasing Cable's possible appearance in the next movie, and a few high-profile actors were originally considered for the role. Mashable's Jeff Sneider revealed that Kyle Chandler could've taken on the character, while The Wrap's Umberto Gonzalez tweeted that the studio also had its eyes on Liam Neeson. In the end the studio decided on Josh Brolin, who couldn't be a better pick. The first images of him from the movie are pretty spot-on, and this isn't Brolin's first time in a superhero flick, either — he also voices Thanos in Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers: Infinity War.
Reynolds confirmed via Twitter that the Atlanta actress will be playing the superhero in the sequel, and later shared the first picture of her in costume on Instagram. How perfect does she look?!
During an interview with Collider, writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick confirmed that Brianna Hildebrand and Stefan Kapicic would be reprising their roles as Negasonic and Colossus, respectively. We've gotten a few quick looks at them in the latest teasers, too.
Reese and Wernick, who wrote the first movie, handled the script for the sequel.
The second look features the Merc with a Mouth dressed as Bob Ross. Naturally.
Cable makes his badass onscreen debut in the most recent teaser.
The release date for the sequel has been pushed up from June 1 to May 18.
