Kids have the weirdest "rules" when it comes to food and how they like their meals prepared and presented to them. The picky eating — or general "I don't like this because [insert ridiculous reason]" — phase is just one of those stress-inducing things about kids that make it very hard for us to remember why we wanted little rugrats in the first place but also result in some of the funniest parenting moments of all time.
Ahead, a variety of reasons — some of which will look suspiciously familiar — as to why your kid can't eat the meal you prepared for them. (Which is nine times out of 10 the exact thing they asked for. Kids . . . )
"Because it looks weird."
"I wanted the green plate, and now it's ruined."
"It's what I asked for."
"There are green things."
"There's 'stuff' on the crust."
"Everything is touching each other."
"I asked for circles but meant squares."
"I don't like my favorite food today."
"Because the sauce is too orange."
"The tops that I ate are gone."
"My hair is too tired."
"It's not in half evenly."
"It looks like a rabbit, and the rabbit is my friend."
"It's my new hat."
"Because it is 'disgusting with hair hanging all over it!'"
"Because there's nothing but crust left."
"It's not dry enough."
"There's no frosting."
"The inside of strawberries are gross — only whole strawberries taste good."
"The butter melted and I can't see it."
"It's burnt."
