Even if you've never watched American Horror Story, you're probably well aware that the costumes on the show are freakin' spectacular. So much so that the woman creating them, Lou Eyrich, recently won a Creative Arts Emmy for her work, and any sneak peek of Lady Gaga as "The Countess" continues to feel like pure torture.
So when we had the chance to sit down with Lou and discuss her new show, Scream Queens, we threw in our most pressing question: what the heck can we copy for Halloween? Because while there's a ton of inspiration on AHS, we're not trying to pull a Dot and Bette — we're looking for easy.
Luckily, Lou was more than willing to give us some advice. Read on to see her picks and shop our super simple suggestions to get the look. Then be prepared to scare the heck outta someone on Oct. 31.
"It's kind of the modern-day witch. The cheapest way to do that would be a black dress from your closet. Then throw a choker and a big black hat — not a witch's hat — and high heels."
"Wrap a big turban on your head and wear a halter dress, sandals, and a bunch of jewelry."
"If you happen to have a feather or fur coat in your closet — or [you can] go to a thrift store and get one — belt it and wear it with little boots, tights with holes in it. And you could do any little hat and stick a feather in it."
"An old house dress from a thrift store, then go to the Halloween store and get a fake beard."
"Get a tracksuit from the thrift store and buy a cheap neck brace."
