5 Vegan Girl Scout Cookies, Because Mama Needs Her Thin Mints

Flickr user amylovesyah

I never made it to being a Girl Scout, but I was a Brownie for about two years. And, like many of us who dabbled in something Girl Scout-related, I was in it for the cookies. Specifically, selling them. Peddling Girl Scout cookies was one of my first lessons in the efficacy of using adorableness to my financial benefit . . . plus, cookies! I always loved eating them, so I was thrilled to find out as an adult that many of my favorite Girl Scout Cookies are vegan.

As it turns out, there are even more vegan Girl Scout cookie varieties than there are gluten-free flavors. The only gluten-free Girl Scout cookie flavors are Toffee-Tastic and Trios, which, sadly, are not also vegan. Something for the Girl Scouts to get on next year, maybe?

Here's the full list of the five vegan Girl Scout cookie varieties. Thank goodness my two OG favorites are vegan! Enjoy them with a glass of plant-based, cruelty-free milk, and you've truly got some ethical snacking on your hands. Oh, and if you don't see your favorite variety here, we've got a vegan Samoas recipe and plenty of other vegan Girl Scout cookie recipes you can make at home.

Peanut Butter Patties/Tagalongs

One of my favorite Girl Scout cookies, Peanut Butter Patties (aka Tagalongs), is mercifully vegan. These also taste great out of the freezer, in my opinion.

Lemonades

These lemon-shortcake cookies are buttery and delicious — and totally vegan!

Thin Mints

I'm sure I'm not the only one who's of the opinion that Thin Mints are the only Girl Scout cookie that really, truly matters. Stick them in the freezer and slather these vegan beauties with peanut butter for an extra treat. (Or make them gluten-free using this recipe.)

Thanks-A-Lots

These shortbread cookies have fudge on the bottom, just like nature probably intended. Plus, they thank you for eating them, which is nice.

Girl Scout S'Mores

This is a new variety of Girl Scout cookie, and there are actually two types: one vegan and one not. Luckily, it's the chocolate-coated ones that are vegan, so be sure to grab those.
