POPSUGAR's own video host of Eat the Trend and Get the Dish had a stunning wedding in Malibu complete with the most amazing dessert table. If you're looking for inspiration for your own dessert bar complete with gorgeous cupcakes, candies, and more, read ahead for Brandi's story and see photos of every sweet treat.
My husband Chris and I both have a major sweet tooth, so when it came to choosing a dessert for our wedding, we decided to feature all of our favorite treats. It was so fun curating all of the candy and cookies we both love. Instead of using a traditional rectangle table for the display, we used a metal shelving unit from Cost Plus World Market. Not only did it make for a great way to feature all of the desserts, but it provided a beautiful backdrop for our sweetheart table.
My former business partner (we used to own Sweet Party Stix, a desserts catering company) and friend, Miranda Kelley, helped with the design and setup. She used apothecary jars, cake stands, shadow boxes, and mirrored platters for the sweets and placed them symmetrically on each shelf. I made the menu tents using one of my favorite watercolor fonts and rose gold cardstock.
We were beyond happy with how everything turned out. After our cake cutting, we opened the dessert table up to our guests, and it was like watching kids in a candy store filling their plates and to-go bags. I even got texts from family and friends days later with photos of treats they brought home.
Even though we had desserts for our guests, Chris and I still wanted a cake for us to cut and enjoy. We were thrilled to work with Charm City Cakes West on designing our cake. We told our designer Morgan that we wanted to feature our wedding colors (rose gold and grey) and my favorite flower, ranunculus.
When we walked into our reception we were so happy to see that she also made a topper featuring Chris and me. It was so cute because when we met with her she noticed I always rub Chris's ear. It's a form of endearment I've always done with him and she took that idea and featured the bride (mini me) reaching up to the groom's (mini Chris) ear.
I’ve never had Rice Krispies Treats like these Bliss and Baker Salty Caramel Crispies before. They're salty, brown-butter caramel goodness. These were the first to go!
These soft, decadent, sprinkle-filled truffles were by far the most popular treat at the wedding, and they're staple for me anytime I stop at Momofuku Milk Bar when I'm in New York City.
From the sour Bubbly Bears to the Hazelnut and Vanilla Golden Truffle Eggs, Sugarfina is my favorite candy store featuring candies from around the world.
These beautiful Oreo Chocolate Gems from Elise Cakes look like jewelry and are almost too gorgeous to eat . . . almost.
There’s only one cupcake I crave, and it’s from Susie Cakes. They are super moist and delicious!
This eggless cookie dough from Edoughble that you can eat by the spoonful had people going crazy.
These super soft and chewy cookies from Milk Jar are so good and my husband's absolute favorite.
