Every month, Trader Joe's debuts a variety of new and exciting foods, and that's especially true for these September products. TJ's is embracing the Fall apple theme with a sweet and savory cheese, and there's a brand-new mochi ice cream flavor that has an unexpected twist. Based on our editors' reviews, here's what you should pick up — and skip — the next time you find yourself browsing the aisles.
This fruity black tea not only gives you a burst of refreshment thanks its the apricot and orange flavors, but it also wakes you up with a dose of caffeine. It’s made with black tea leaves, rose hip, orange peel, licorice root, and dried peaches and apricots for a seriously satisfying cup of tea that keeps you going back for more.
Part sweet and part spicy, this organic lemonade is heavy on the ginger so it truly has a zing to it. A cold glass of this is refreshing on its own, and it also makes for a great mixer in vodka or gin.
This fruit and nut mix is everything you love about granola, without any of the oats. The vegan and gluten-free mix has dates, dried bananas, walnuts, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, roasted cashews, cinnamon, and vanilla powder, and the flavors mesh really well together. Snack on this for a protein-packed afternoon treat that won’t weigh you down.
Yes, these are just hot dogs, but they’re organic, grass fed, and free of nitrates and nitrites. The all-beef hot dogs taste like everything you want from a ballpark snack, and you can feel better about eating these since there are no fillers.
As far as frozen tacos go, these new shrimp soft tacos definitely pass the test. Each box comes with three loaded tacos with two corn tortillas each, and they’re piled high with salsa verde, cotija cheese, and shrimp. The convenience of microwaving these really can’t be beat when you want a late-night snack or three-minute dinner.
Packed with immunity-boosting turmeric, this Organic Ginger Turmeric Herbal Tea is a comforting brew you'll want to sip on any time of day. It's free of caffeine so it doesn't leave you jittery, but the aroma and spiced flavors are guaranteed to perk you up.
Trader Joe's has long carried beloved mochi ice cream flavors like green tea and strawberry, but they've never had a Coffee Mochi until now. Not only is the coffee-infused ice cream guaranteed to delight any espresso addict, but it also comes with a major perk: it's dairy-free. As someone who has an unmatched hatred of milk and love of coffee, I greatly appreciate this, and it makes the saucy mocha center that much sweeter.
These little crackers are nothing to write home about, but they're undoubtedly tasty and snackable. The Three Cheese Wafers have cheddar, parmesan, and mozzarella, and you can taste hints of each cheese with every crunchy bite.
Trader Joe's is upping its coffee game, and I'd mistake this bag of Tanzania Small Lot Coffee for an artisanal coffee shop's if I didn't know better. This dark roast comes as a whole-bean coffee (though you can ground the beans in store), and its floral flavors and bold finish pass my morning coffee requirements with flying colors.
Trader Joe’s new rack of lamb is super convenient if you happen to want to serve lamb for dinner but don’t want to work too hard. It’s already been fully cooked in a sous-vide and it’s marinated in olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic, thyme, and parsley, and all you have to do is bake it for 30 minutes. However, the flavor falls a little flat and the small rack is really fatty — you get little of the actual meat. Unless you’re dying to have rack of lamb at your dinner party, pass on this one.
Apples and cheddar is a classic (though somewhat puzzling) flavor combination, which inspired this new Apple Pie Cheddar Cheese. Made with actual apple cider and spices you'd find in apple pie, like cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg, this sharp white cheddar cheese has a sweet bite to it that cuts through the saltiness. Many of our tasters shook their heads in confusion upon biting into this, and the overall consensus is we wouldn't buy it or cook with it. Unless you're a die-hard fan of cheddar and apples, skip out on this one.
