Picking out new makeup is a little like online dating: easily overwhelming, and often based solely on appearance. (Sure, you might not have to kiss a lot of frogs to find the right lipstick, but the sentiment is still the same. . .)
With beauty, though, finding a product that makes you truly happy — the whole package, if you will — is a lot easier when you enlist a little help. So, we tried out the latest and greatest formulas hitting the market so you don't have to and picked our favorites (plus how we like to wear them) ahead.
A smattering of Fall launches we're particularly excited about.
The Flesh Hide the Evidence Double Concealer ($28) worked wonders at camouflaging the shadows under our eyes, but it was also lightweight enough that it didn't fall into fine lines any time we smiled.
A little bit of the Giorgio Armani Beauty Fluid Sheer Highlighter Makeup ($62) goes a long way, and the pretty reddish color made us look instantly more awake.
We're not always fans of glitter eye shadow, but the shades in Huda Beauty's Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette Precious Stones in Topaz ($27) don't feel extra — no matter how much you smear on.
Say what you will about Kat Von D, but you've gotta admit: she makes a damn good eyeliner. Her latest Ink Well Long-Wear Matte Eyeliner ($20) is no exception, with blacker-than-black pigment that lasts all day long.
The brand's Eyes to Kill Mascara is hard to beat — it's an OG I'll never retire — but the Giorgio Armani Beauty Black Ecstasy Mascara ($32) comes pretty damn close, and made our short lashes look miles long.
Beyond its brunette hue that somehow miraculously matched my real hair, the Mary Kay Volumizing Brow Tint ($14) also contains tiny fibers that made my brows look infinitely fuller.
While the packaging of this L'Oréal Paris X Isabel Marant Brow & Lash Mascara ($14) is decidedly chic, the fact that the translucent formula inside held up all day makes it even better.
