"Pastel Plus" Is the Nail-Color Trend That Will Be Huge This Spring
Somewhere across the hallway, behind closed doors at Runway magazine, Miranda Priestly would be saying: "Pastels for Spring? Groundbreaking." But save the pursing of your lip, would you, because this season's biggest nail-color trend isn't like all the others you've seen before. It's pastel color — with a twist.
"The polishes for Spring are not so predictable — we'll be seeing a lot of the not-so-basic pastels," said Essie celebrity manicurist Michelle Saunders. These shades, she explained, each have a little something extra — be it a touch of iridescence, flecks of gold, or pearly finishes. "For some reason, maybe because this winter was particularly long and daunting, but this year instead of rolling our eyes when fresh and floral hues arrive, we are embracing them. It's the quickest and simplest way to 'let the light in', even if the sun is still struggling to appear."
