On Feb. 24, Becca Cosmetics announced some sad news for makeup-lovers: the brand will be ceasing operations starting in September.

Like many businesses, Becca was deeply affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. "The global pandemic has had an impact on everyone around the world on many levels," a statement on the brand's website read. "It has also had a tremendous impact on so many businesses. At BECCA, an accumulation of challenges, together with the global impact of COVID-19, has sadly been more than our business can withstand, and we have had to make the heartbreaking decision to close down the BECCA brand at the end of September 2021."

Becca was founded 20 years ago in 2001 in Perth, Australia, but quickly became one of the leading makeup brands globally. The luxe packaging and innovative, high-quality formulas made the brand a staple for beauty novices and professional makeup artists alike. Its Under Eye Brightening Corrector ($32) is an editor favorite, but other top-selling products include the Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter ($38), the First Light Priming Filter Instant Complexion Refresh ($39), and the Ultimate Coverage 24 Hour Foundation ($44). As recent as August 2020, Becca made waves with a new, never-been-done-before product called the Zero No Pigment Foundation ($36).

This news comes as a surprise to many, but it's a sobering reminder that the COVID-19 pandemic is not over and many businesses are still struggling. Until Becca officially closes next fall, we'll be stocking up on all of the products that we've fallen in love with over the years.
