Chanel Just Sent Doobie Wraps Down the Runway

We never though the Chanel Haute Couture Paris Show would make us hungry! After seeing the updos from the Spring 2017 runway from the back, we started craving . . . cinnamon buns. The sleek wrap-around bun echoes the doobie wrap method of setting hair, long worn by black and Latina women. Though the style is often worn under a scarf to create next-day bounce, Rihanna boldly rocked a similar look at the American Music Awards.

Lead hair pro Sam McKnight shared images of the sleek swirled style with the caption "Hair is all around." McKnight was likely referencing the song "Love Is All Around," which you may know from Love Actually; perhaps he was sending an uplifting message during these politically divided times. Either that or he just wants to put some feel-good vibes out there!

From a technical standpoint, we predict some heavy gel was used to get these wet styles to stay in place. The slicked bun is also perfect to wear under a hat, which is a key accessory for Chanel.

Makeup for the catwalk — which featured Kendall Jenner, Lily-Rose Depp, and Bella Hadid — was minimal with an emphasis on glowing skin and a slightly stained lip.
