I Never Thought I'd Put Blush on My Nose — Until I Discovered This TikTok Hack

Take it from me: TikTok has some serious blush influence. A few months ago, I discovered a TikTok hack that involved putting blush high on your cheekbones as opposed to on the apples of your cheeks. It changed my makeup game and gave me a natural-looking flush — the kind I only ever get after a brisk walk or eight-plus hours of sleep.

Hungry for more blush wisdom and tips, I turned to the social platform once again and spent way longer than I'd like to admit scrolling through tutorials. That's when I discovered the makeup trick involving putting blush on the bridge of your nose in addition to the apples of your cheeks for a sun-kissed look.

I had some hesitations. As far as I knew, the nose was sort of a restricted area for blush. "Would this make me look like I forgot to put SPF on my nose?" I wondered.

The only way to truly find out if it was capable of a sun-kissed glow (and not a sunburned vibe) was to give it a shot.

All of the TikTok tutorials that I watched involved using a liquid blush to complete this hack. Since I didn't have one handy and wasn't sure my pink lipstick was the right shade for my cheeks, I reached for my e.l.f. Cosmetics Putty Blush in Tahiti ($6).

I pressed my ring finger down on the product in the putty container, moved it around in a circular motion a few times, then dabbed the creamy blush on my face. I put two tiny dabs on each cheek, then one dab on the bridge of my nose.

While this blush can be picked up and applied with a brush, I like to apply it to my face with my fingertips. I find that the warmth between my fingers makes the consistency even more creamy and silky.

After I applied the blush, I grabbed my makeup sponge to blend it out. At first, I was surprised with just how pink my nose was, but as I continued to blend it out with my sponge (which did have remnants of concealer on it from the previous step in my routine), it sheered out and created a super-pretty sun-kissed effect. A little bronzer on my cheekbones helped balance out the rosy look, too.

I've seen other people on TikTok try this trend with powder blush and a fluffy brush instead of cream or liquid and a sponge, and the results have been equally as amazing.

Once I get my hands on the e.l.f. Cosmetics Bite-Size Face Duo in Spiced Apple ($3), I'll be trying that variation, too.
