Joey King is far from shy, but when it comes to her tattoos, she isn't one to offer up too many details. As far as fans know, The Kissing Booth star has five pieces of ink. Her first design is believed to be the one on her left ribcage, followed by the one on the back of her right arm. It wasn't until June of 2021, when she visited a tattooist in LA with her sister, that she added three more designs.

Though King isn't afraid to show them off, she's never publicly spoken about the meaning behind her tats — but we have some ideas about what they may symbolize. Check out the gallery to see what King's five delicate tattoos are and what they may represent to the actress.

Joey King's Ursa Major Tattoo

King and her oldest sister, Kelli King, got matching bear-shaped Ursa Major constellation tattoos on their left ribcages in November 2017, courtesy of tattoo artist Lauren Winzer. Though she's never publicly spoken about the meaning behind the tattoo, King referred to her big sis as her "Biggish Bear" in an October 2016 Instagram post, which she shared soon after Kelli was hit by a 18-wheeler semi truck while riding her bike to work. In the sister selfie shared by King, Kelli has a Brother Bear phone cover, so it's possible the sisters got matching tattoos to commemorate Kelli's recovery from the scary accident.

Joey King's Japanese Kanji Tattoo

Before hitting the SAG Awards red carpet in January 2020, King debuted a new tattoo on the back of her right arm, which was given to her by celebrity tattoo artist Doctor Woo, according to her stylist Jared Eng's tag on Instagram. Just like with her Ursa Major tattoo, King has never explained the meaning behind her latest ink (which is written in kanji characters, according to Inked Mag), but it's worth noting that she got the tattoo soon after taking a trip to Japan with her current boyfriend, director Steven Piet, in December 2019.

Joey King's Ladybug, Clasped Hands, and Bandage Tattoos

King and her sister got a collection of new tattoos together in Los Angeles by an artist named Haney in June of 2021. The famous sister duo got five new designs in total. King chose clasped hands near her hip and a bandage on the back of her ankle. They also both got tiny ladybug designs on opposite shoulders connected with a wavy dotted line.
