Katy Perry Channels '50s Icon Bettie Page With Long Black Hair and Blunt Bangs

Katy Perry really can pull off any hairstyle and color. Our evidence? Just in the past year, she's successfully worn a platinum blond wig, looked lovely in a long, peach-colored bob, and most recently, rocked a long black wig with bangs à la Bettie Page — and looked absolutely fierce.

On Sunday, Perry showed off her new hair, which was for an episode of American Idol, by posting a series of three photos on her Instagram feed with the caption: "M🖤THER". We can't help but liken the singer-songwriter to the iconic '50s American model, Page, who was known for her shoulder-length black hair and blunt fringe.

According to her makeup artist, Michael Anthony (who snapped these gorgeous photos), Perry's hairstylist Rick Henry used a wig from San Diego-based brand What Wigs. Founded by hairstylist Noah Scott, the luxury wig company has become a favorite amongst celebrities; Scott has created everything from Khloé Kardashian's various chin-grazing bob hairstyles to Ariana Grande's iconic waist-length ponytails.

As for her makeup, Anthony shared some details on his Instagram feed. "A lesson in Time Bending ... I did a soft feathered brow, a pop of cool pink on the cheek & Pink Cherry lips for Katy's signature BEAUTY !!" he wrote in the caption of his photo. The makeup perfectly complemented Perry's black and pink Cong Tri dress she wore for the occasion. Styled by Tatiana Waterford, Perry also wore a pair of long black opera gloves, jumping one of 2020's biggest celebrity fashion trends.
