Aw! Angelina Jolie Celebrates Son Maddox's 18th Birthday Before He Heads to College

Angelina Jolie celebrated son Maddox's 18th birthday with a trip to Cleveland on Aug. 5. During the visit, Angelina — who recently penned a powerful essay in Elle's September issue — modeled a light brown dress while Maddox sported a t-shirt and baseball cap. The duo joined longtime friend Loung Ung — the author of First They Killed My Father, which inspired Angelina's 2017 film adaption — for a meal while visiting the city.

In a Facebook post, Loung shared details about her reunion with Angelina, 44, and Maddox, writing, "We started with lunch at Market Garden Brewpub and a visit to Ohio City Farm/The Refugee Response Program and Cleveland Museum of Art! I met Maddox when he was just a year old and today he turns eighteen and going off to college! So proud! Happy Birthday, Maddox!" She then included two snapshots of the mother-son duo at a restaurant with friends and posing with a group of people they met during the day's activities.

Angelina — who also shares 14-year-old Zahara, 13-year-olds Shiloh and Pax, and 11-year-olds Vivienne and Knox with ex-husband Brad Pitt — will be sending Maddox to college later this month. Maddox is attending Yonsei University in South Korea and studying biochemistry. "Mom is dropping him off in August," a source told People. "She is very proud. She will miss seeing him as much, but he's ready."
