Chance the Rapper Just Made History by Hiring ASL Interpreters For His Concert Tour

Chance the Rapper has launched an arts and literature fund and donated $1 million to Chicago public schools, and now, the 24-year-old musician is focusing his attention on his deaf and hard-of-hearing fans. On June 14, Chance announced that he's hired American Sign Language interpreters for the remainder of his Be Encouraged Tour. The special announcement was made in an Instagram video shared by Atlanta-based DEAFinitely Dope, an organization founded by Matthew Maxey with the goal of uniting "the hearing and deaf communities through music and signing." "I want all those hard of hearing and deaf in the Tampa area to come out and see the show," Chance said in the clip. In addition to his announcement, Chance also gave out 50 free tickets to his Tampa, FL, show and is reportedly the first rapper to ever hire his own ASL interpreters for a tour.
