Sandra Bullock Has 2 Adorable Little Ones With Complementary Names — Louis and Laila

Sandra Bullock may be in several of your favorite movies, but her favorite role to date is being a mom. "It's just like being a mom, I finally realize, 'Oh, this is what I was supposed to do when I grew up," she said. "Not be an actress; to be a mom. . . . This is my purpose," she told Today in 2018 of her two adopted children, Louis and Laila. The "Ocean's 8" star — among many, many other films — adopted both of her children from Louisiana after witnessing the devastating effects of Hurricane Katrina.

She told Today, "Katrina happened in New Orleans, and I knew. Like, just something told me that my child was there. It was weird. It was very, very weird." And though she didn't adopt Louis right away, she found him a few years later. Or she would say, he found her. "The beautiful thing that I was constantly told was, 'The perfect child will find you,'" she said. A few years later, she adopted Laila from Louisiana as well.

And now the movie star is taking a break from acting to focus on her kids. While speaking with Entertainment Tonight in March 2022, Sandra said she needs to be "in the place that makes me happiest." And that is at home with her children. "I take my job very seriously when I'm at work," she said, adding that it's a "24/7" job. "And I just want to be 24/7 with my babies and my family."

Here's what we know about her two cute kids.

Louis Bardo Bullock

Louis Bardo Bullock was born in January 2010. He is the first child Sandra adopted. She had begun the adoption process with her former husband, Jesse James, but after they split, she proceeded with the adoption on her own. Louis was born in New Orleans and came to live with Sandra as an infant. Sandra tends to keep the lives of her children pretty under wraps, but she did tell InStyle in 2018 that Louis is super sensitive. She said she calls him her 78-year-old son and that he's wise and kind.

Laila Bullock

Laila Bullock was 3 years old when Sandra adopted her in 2015. She was living in foster care in Louisiana when she was adopted. Sandra told InStyle in 2018 that Laila is unafraid and has so much strength for living in foster care during her early years. And though Sandra keeps her family life fairly private, Laila made an appearance alongside her famous mom in March 2020 on "Red Table Talk." Sandra called in from home for a Mother's Day shoutout to the healthcare workers on the frontlines, and Laila popped up to send along her own well wishes.
