It really has been a whole-ass year, hasn't it? In 2018, everything has seemed entirely surreal. When I look back on some of the crazy things that happened, it all feels like a very strange dream. Meghan Markle broke so much protocol (and I lived for it). We all watched entirely too much Netflix. So many people fell in love. So many people fell out of it. But all of these are kind of run-of-the-mill. I want to take a second to call out some of the truly wild, totally one-of-a-kind moments in 2018 that really threw us all for a loop. Some of them were inspiring, perhaps even iconic. Some were perplexing, confounding even. And some felt like the product of a video game's "random" button. Take this journey with me, won't you?
Don't worry, Twitter did indeed have a field day with it.
Oh, there's more. On behalf of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, I'd love to know what in the f*ck was going on here on this day.
The meme just generates itself, really. I hope she wins best supporting actress for this.
Yes, it's supposed to be an Idris Elba doll, and it was priced at $1,100. Most people decided it looked like Romany Malco, including Romany Malco.
OK, fine, not really. But she does seem to think she popularized it.
And I still haven't fully recovered. Please follow my harrowing journey on the next season of Serial.
Yes, he DID write "Avada Kedavra" on his hands, so let's all just lie on the floor and wonder if we'll ever be able to get on his level. (We won't.)
I'm aware most celebrities at the festival arrive by boat, but how many of them do it with a rose in hand, legs flung over the side, in an absolutely devastating outfit? Yeah, that's what I thought.
We also learned about Big D*ck Energy, so I guess this is a win?
And she was brave enough to notify us all on Twitter. Happens to the best of us, Anna.
It became an entire meme, guys. Don't worry, Jennifer offered some ideas.
White House officials urged everyone not to read into it too much, but we decided to do it anyway. Because, come on.
I'm so sorry, I don't mean to be rude, but the internet really roasted him good for this one. This man went from "Daddy" to "Father" in 0.5 seconds.
Celebrity haircuts are usually not Big News, but in this case, the internet was ablaze with hot takes pertaining to Timothée Chalamet's chop. It bears mentioning.
Oh yeah, it's very real, and there are pictures to prove it.
Wow. Not only did Miss Mary Halsey put the thing down and flip it, but she also reversed it. Even Missy Elliott herself was blown away!
The real gag is, it's a whole new art piece now. And I haven't done any research (I'm tired), but I'd guess it's probably worth even more now than it was before.
Um, yeah. This is peak 2018.
Don't worry, the internet was very perplexed.
I'd like to take this opportunity to say I always heard "Laurel," which was confirmed as the correct answer. Please send money and congratulations to me. I'd also like to take this opportunity to alert you that Yanny Laurel merchandise was a thing, in case you wanted to hear some very bleak news today.
You know, these things happen sometimes. No big!
Meet Mason Ramsey, affectionately known as the "Walmart Yodel Boy," thanks to . . . well, it's exactly what it sounds like. Here's a picture of him on the red carpet at the Country Music Association Awards. When I was 10, I got a bead stuck up my nose!
