7 Hints We've Gotten About Jason Blossom's Killer on Riverdale

Oh Jason Blossom, we hardly knew ye. Actually, when it comes to Riverdale, we don't know you at all — you've been dead this whole time. As season one of the hot new CW show has unspooled over the past few months, this has been the biggest mystery on our minds: who killed Jason? Now that it seems like we're getting closer than ever to an answer, we figured it's high time we go over all the evidence we've collected to far. Get on your detective hats and break out those magnifying glasses, everyone. We're going full Sherlock Holmes on this b*tch.

Here's what we know about Jason's disappearance: he vanishes on the Fourth of July after a boat ride with his twin sister, Cheryl, goes horribly wrong. Cheryl at first insists he drowned, but his body indicates he'd been shot in the head. Here's the crazy part, though: his body indicated he didn't die until a week after his disappearance. So where was he?

As we mentioned, it all boils down to Cheryl's fateful boat ride with her brother. She later reveals that Jason was trying to run away, indicating that she hasn't really been telling the full story. This could only mean that there's even more evidence Cheryl is keeping from her friends, the police, and us curious viewers.

When Jason's body is being examined, we see what are referred to as ligature marks on his wrists. This means he had been tied up sometime before his death. Someone kidnaps Jason on the Fourth of July. The implication is that he had been held captive and possibly tortured before being eventually killed.

Much of the first couple of episodes revolve around a gunshot that goes off in the woods on the day Jason disappeared. Ms. Grundy and Archie hear it, and so does Cheryl. It turns out, though, that it has nothing to do with Jason's death. The shot came from scout leader Dilton Doiley, who had been doing some kind of demonstration with his fellow scouts.

Betty has a sudden epiphany that leads to an impromptu sleuthing session with Jughead: Jason and Polly had left a car in the woods as part of their escape plan. When Betty and Jughead come across the car, Jason's letterman jacket and a stash of drugs are in it. Jughead and Betty alert the sheriff, but by the time he goes out to see it, someone has lit it on fire.

We know Jughead's dad, FP, has Jason's letterman jacket in his possession. If this is the same jacket Betty and Jughead come across, it means FP very likely snatches the jacket and the drugs and sets the car on fire. There's also the off-chance that Jason somehow had two jackets that were identical. This would still make FP look pretty bad though, huh?

In a recent interview with Bustle, Madelaine Petsch gave a hint about Jason's killer. "I kind of had a weird inclination that it was the person that it is, but I didn't want to believe it . . . because if it was, it would literally ruin Cheryl's life. More than it already is ruined." Clearly, the killer is someone very close to Cheryl. Or, who knows, maybe it's Cheryl herself.

With just a handful of episodes left until the finale and a promise we'll find out soon, it's only a matter of time before everything comes to light.
