You Definitely Know the Actress Playing Bryce's Mom on 13 Reasons Why

13 Reasons Why season two might actually see Bryce receive the punishment he deserves. While the first season is full of teens who make bad decisions, the show's true villain is Bryce, an entitled rapist who shows no remorse for his actions even after Clay confronts him. Season two delves deeper into his story with the introduction of his parents, Barry and Nora. Playing the parent of a teen who has done so many terrible things is a complex role, and it's one that 13 Reasons Why's new castmember Brenda Strong was more than prepared to tackle.

The actress playing Bryce's mom on 13 Reasons Why is a familiar face to TV fans. Strong has a career in television that spans decades and most of your favorite shows. She's perhaps best known as Desperate Housewives' Mary Alice Young, the neighbor whose suicide launches the mysteries that shroud every corner of Wisteria Lane. While she only made a few physical appearances on the show, fans will remember her as the voice of Desperate Housewives thanks to her ongoing narration.

Strong is no stranger to teen TV either, having appeared in classics like Everwood, Gilmore Girls, Dawson's Creek, Party of Five, and The 100. More recently, she starred in the Dallas reboot (pictured above) as Ann Ewing and in Supergirl as Lillian Luthor, mother of supervillain Lex. As you can see, she basically has the market cornered when it comes to "parent of troubled kids" roles. But the actor's vast list of credits illustrates that she can bring nuance to any role she's given, so don't be surprised if she ends up making your heart break for Nora.
