John Legend Sang "Georgia on My Mind" Because It's on Just About Everyone's Mind

On Nov. 6, Joe Biden took the lead over Donald Trump in Georgia in the 2020 presidential election, and John Legend was apparently more than ready for the news. In the wee hours of the morning, the singer tweeted a video of him singing "Georgia on My Mind," expressing the feelings of so many who have been anxiously awaiting election results. Of course, Chrissy Teigen hilariously called him out, tweeting that, "He has been waiting to post this for 5 hours."

Even though Legend had the video ready to go, Biden taking the lead in Georgia was never a for-sure thing. While the final count in the state is yet to come, the last time Georgia gave its 16 electoral college votes to a Democratic presidential candidate was Bill Clinton in 1992. One of the biggest reasons for Biden's lead in Georgia is the coalition built by Stacey Abrams, who tirelessly worked with Fair Fight, New Georgia Project, Asian Americans Advancing Justice Atlanta, GALEO, Black Voters Matter, and more to combat voter suppression in the state of Georgia. While you wait to see who officially wins Georgia, you can at least enjoy the dulcet tones of Legend in the full video above.
