The Friday Drop: Sabrina Carpenter, Ashanti, Rosalía, and More New Music This Week

OK, I know that everyone is buzzing about Sabrina Carpenter's new song (I agree, it's a bop), but she's not the only one with new music this week. Ashanti debuted a brand-new single during her Verzuz battle with Keyshia Cole on Thursday, and I cannot stop listening to it. I'm really hoping this means a new album is on the way! Billie Eilish and Rosalía also released their highly anticipated collab, which will be featured on Euphoria's "Part 2: Jules" special. As POPSUGAR editors, my colleagues and I love discussing our new weekly music finds, so check out our recommendations in the latest edition of The Friday Drop ahead.

"235 (2:35 I Want You)" by Ashanti

"After watching Ashanti debut her new single during her Verzuz battle with Keyshia Cole on Thursday, I fell in love with this song. It's been a while since we've heard new music from her, but she's officially back! The song is all about Ashanti not being able to sleep because she misses her partner, and it's giving us those grown and sexy vibes that her music is known for having. Just in time for Valentine's Day!" — Monica Sisavat, editor, celebrity and entertainment

"Skin" by Sabrina Carpenter

"'Skin' is absolutely the vibe I'm going into the weekend with. I'm not even dating anyone, but singing along to the music makes me feel like I am. It's certainly a depart from the scream-singing I did last week when I was in a more melancholy mood. Carpenter's new song is a certified bop, and I will have it on repeat for the foreseeable future." — Grayson Gilcrease, assistant editor, celebrity and entertainment

“God, Drugs and You” by Alycia Bella

"Every relationship isn't black and white; sometimes two people find themselves bathing in deep hues of grey. The uncertainty of this point is illustrated beautifully by Bay Area-born songstress Bella on her debut album, Muse. The aptly titled 'God, Drugs and You' fills an instrumental ambiance of keys, guitar, and a dragging boom-bap with lyrics that softly sway between intimacy and ambivalence. As the singer lays her cards of dissonance bare, there's something relatable about the state of being unsure in the waters of love." — Iyana Robertson, content director, celebrity and entertainment

"Rubberband" by Tate McRae

"I don't know how she does it, but somehow McRae always manages to get me in my feels with her music. This time, she's singing about being addicted to love and trying to snap herself out of it. While discussing the concept of the song with Apple Music's Zane Lowe, the singer said, 'There's this thing when people get addicted to something or they're try to overcome it, they have little fidgets, something that they do to distract themselves. And a lot of people actually put rubber bands on their wrist and snap it when they want something, and I thought it was a really cool concept to think about it in a love perspective.' You might want to grab some tissues before listening to this one." — Monica Sisavat, editor, celebrity and entertainment

"Stars" by PRETTYMUCH

"PRETTYMUCH is back with their first song since 2019, and it's a total bop! While the song's melody will instantly put you in a good mood, it's the music video that really has my attention. From the outfits to the choreography, it's everything you love about boy bands with their own flair." — Kelsie Gibson, editor, celebrity and entertainment
