Are You Ready? Here's the Cast of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker
We finally have more details about Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker! Stars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, and Oscar Isaac will be returning for Episode IX, and the late, great Carrie Fisher will also be reprising her role as General Leia Organa thanks to unused footage from The Force Awakens. Director J.J. Abrams also has a few other big stars to play new — and familiar — roles in IX. Ahead you'll find all the actors slated to join the upcoming film.
Since Daisy Ridley's Rey is who kicks things off in The Force Awakens, it makes sense that the completion of her character's journey through the ways of the Force is the focus of the final film as well. As for that "romance" with Kylo Ren? We'll just have to wait and see.
Speaking of Kylo Ren, Adam Driver will once again play the First Order's scarred villain.
Fresh off of her terrifying turn in Us, Nyong'o is reprising her role as the CGI character Maz Kanata.
Now that John Boyega's lovable Finn has recovered from his injuries and is back in the Rebel fight, we'll no doubt see more of his adventures with Kelly Marie Tran's Rose Tico, as well as a reunion with his BFF Rey.
Hamill will once again play the iconic role of Luke Skywalker. Will he appear as a Force ghost? Will it just be a voice role? Hmm . . .
The late Carrie Fisher will appear posthumously as General Leia Organa in the film, which will feature existing, unused footage of her performance from The Force Awakens. None of that creepy CGI, thankfully.
Fisher's daughter will return as Lieutenant Connix.
Let us all pray Poe Dameron learned a thing or two from Vice Admiral Holdo (Laura Dern), because Oscar Isaac is coming back for the third film to play the hot-headed pilot.
Ian McDiarmid as Palpatine
McDiarmid, 74, has played the iconic villain four out of the five times the character has appeared in the franchise — Return of the Jedi, The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, and Revenge of the Sith. Since Snoke has (presumably) been eliminated for good thanks to the end of The Last Jedi, Palpatine is a fittingly familiar face to bring back.
Billy Dee Williams
The Lando fever Donald Glover gave everyone in Solo is far from over! Billy Dee Williams is reprising his role as the ridiculously suave smuggler, a character he originated in 1980's Empire Strikes Back.
The Americans actress has been tapped by J.J. Abrams to star in Episode IX. There's no news on whether Russell will be part of the rebels or involved with the First Order, but we have a feeling whoever her character is, she'll be kicking a whole lot of ass (Elizabeth Jennings wouldn't have it any other way).
Kelly Marie Tran
Rose Tico is back! Breakout star Tran will reprise her role from The Last Jedi.
The former Lost star is set to join the film in an undisclosed role.
Gleeson will reprise his role as the evil (and pathetic) General Hux.
Richard E. Grant
The actor, who was recently nominated for an Oscar thanks to his performance in Can You Ever Forgive Me?, will be joining the franchise in a yet-to-be-disclosed role.
