Set Your DVRs! The American Idol Reboot Finally Has a Premiere Date

Get ready, because American Idol will be back sooner than you think. After locking down Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, and Lionel Richie as judges for the ABC revival, returning host Ryan Seacrest announced that the show's two-hour premiere will be on Sunday, March 11. The series, which concluded its 15-season run on Fox last year, also confirmed the news on social media, writing, "🎶 Easy like Sunday evening 🎶 Cue the remix @LionelRichie — #AmericanIdol premieres Sunday, March 11 8/7c on ABC!" alongside an official photo of the cast.

News of the revival first broke in May, when ABC bought all rights to the singing show. "American Idol on ABC . . . that has a nice ring to it," said Ben Sherwood, cochairman of Disney Media Networks and president of Disney-ABC. "Idol is an entertainment icon, and now it will air where it belongs, in ABC's lineup of addictive fan favorites alongside Dancing With the Stars and The Bachelor. America, get ready for the return of a bigger, bolder and better-than-ever Idol." Better set your DVRs now!
