The Deeply Upsetting Reason a Woman at Walmart Found This Little Boy "So Repulsing"

Dallas Fowler's 2-year-old son has something more than 500,000 Americans have — yet when she was in the checkout line at her local Walmart, it repulsed a fellow shopper so much that the stranger couldn't help but say something.

"Why in the world would you let someone do that to him?" the woman asked, after catching a glimpse of something underneath his shirt.

Fowler's son has two stomas — surgical openings that allow the body to expel waste into bags. Although stomas aren't uncommon, her son's disease, Hirschsprung's, is. His stomas saved his life after his colon ruptured when he was just 2 weeks old.

So when the woman spotted the stomas, she continued: "I am sorry, but I just think that is so repulsing. Can you please keep his shirt down?"

Dallas instead pushed her cart to another line — she didn't believe that woman deserved an explanation. Instead, she shared her feelings in a moving Facebook post:

There is a very good chance he will have these for the rest of his life and if he does, it will be my job to teach him a positive body image. It will be my job to teach him to love himself, and his bags. Had he been a couple years older and been able to understand the ignorance the lady was spewing in line behind us, how much of a negative impact do you think that would have had on him?

Please be kind and choose your words wisely, especially should you choose to comment about something that is none of your business. Everyone is fighting a battle you know nothing about, and my son is winning his.

As profound as those words are, a commenter on the post said it best: "Why would anyone be looking at the stomas when there is that gorgeous little face and smile to see!"
