1 Dad Dressed as a T. Rex to Get His Kid Off the Bus — and It Went as Well as You'd Expect

Carrying out harmless pranks as a parent takes a very particular set of skills; skills that Tad and Megan Parnell, a couple from Addis, LA, have developed over a very long career of playing mom and dad to four kids. Their best joke to date? When Tad dressed up in a T. rex costume to greet his 12-year-old daughter, Madelyn, at the bus stop. Megan told POPSUGAR how the idea popped into their heads.

"My husband bought this costume for Halloween because he thought it was the best thing ever. So the other day, he happened to be off from work when my oldest daughter was getting off the bus, and he decided he would greet her with his costume on," she said.

Despite being in middle school — the period in life when you're embarrassed over everything your parents do — Madelyn took her parents' latest trick in stride.

"As any middleschooler, she was like 'Oh my gosh, Dad!!' And ran away laughing! This is a typical day for her, and she loves him."

Going all out in the prank department isn't anything new for the Parnells, especially since there's always a gaggle of children running around the house. "Our home is usually packed with kids, so Tad loves pulling pranks on them and cutting up with them."
