For parents of kids with sensory sensitivities or who need wheelchair-friendly clothing, a small piece of making life easier includes purchasing products that are designed specifically for them. That might mean hidden seams or even pieces that offer tactile-friendly tags. Many big retailers have been focusing on inclusivity with their inventory lately, and we're happy to see Kohl's as one of those influential companies making big waves in this space.

We just learned it is introducing an adaptive clothing line for kids (ages 3 months up to junior) with special needs, and it will include things like wider necks, flat seams, clothing with abdominal access, and two-way zippers. "With features including abdominal access and sensory-friendly and wheelchair-friendly options, the new adaptive clothing is thoughtfully designed, making stylish, quality apparel accessible to all," Kohl's released in a statement. "It recognizes the unique needs of Kohl's customers, offering the same inclusive fabrics, styles, graphics, and shopping experience that makes their everyday realities a little easier and more rewarding."

The executive team at Kohl's understands firsthand the need for all families to be able to shop for products that suit them. "Judy Koepsel, technical design manager for kids, is the mother of a three-year-old daughter with unique developmental and sensory needs. As someone who's personally experienced some of the daily dressing challenges these types of needs bring, she felt she could contribute her point of view and connect with others who have similar needs," Kohl's explained.
