Woman Marries the Love of Her Life Hours Before Tragically Passing Away From Cancer

Despite his girlfriend, Heather, getting diagnosed with breast cancer on Dec. 23, 2016, David Mosher decided to go ahead with his plan to propose on the very same day to let her know she wouldn't have to face the disease alone. Sadly, after nearly a year of battling a super-rare form of cancer known as "triple negative," the pair learned this past September that it had spread to her brain and that she would need a breathing tube.

At the urging of her doctors, the couple decided to move their wedding up a week from Dec. 30 to the 23rd. And in a bittersweet twist, Heather and David tied the knot at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT, just 18 hours before she passed away. Thankfully, her friend and bridesmaid, Christina Kara, captured their special day and posted the photos on Instagram.

"It reminds me of someone who is crossing the finish line of a marathon or something," David told WFSB. "Nobody thought she would've made it that far. She proved them all wrong and that's what that photo says to me."

Seriously, where are the tissues?

Although David says he's going to miss his wife each and every day, he's happy that their last day together was one surrounded by friends and family. "She's my great love, and I'm going to lose her, but I'm not losing her forever," David said. "Heather said, 'I want to keep fighting,' so that's the mantra I'm picking up. She was able to fight till the end, I'm going to fight until my end."
