These Are the Best Grandfathers According to the Stars, Ranked From Best to Worst

Grandfathers are pretty special beings. They have all the love of a father, wisdom behind their years, and an understanding that it's OK to splurge with treats every now and again. We like to think that what guides each grandparent, besides the love of their family, is their zodiac sign. Since not all grandfathers are the same, here is how the stars have ranked them.

  1. Taurus (April 20-May 20): Do you want a grandfather who knows how to build a tree house or play in the garden and teach the children about plants? The Taurus grandpa is a pretty special sort who shows his love by teaching. He clearly loves his family and embraces everything about being a grandparent.
  2. Aries (March 21-April 19): This passionate grandfather will show up to every practice and every performance. The Aries sign values success, and as a grandfather even more so, because he is so passionate for his family. This sign will be your grandchild's biggest fan.
  3. Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20): Pisces is a slippery fish, who can teach his grandchild to get out of sticky situations. Resiliency is key for this sign, and Pisces grandfathers love teaching their grandchildren to try harder. They're also pretty great at cuddles on the couch after a hard day.
  4. Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18): Imagination and play time is where this sign shines. True, Aquariuses can be a little hard to peg down, but they thrive with young children and play. Dressing up, Legos, you name it. This grandpa loves being a grandpa — most of the time.
  5. Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19): Helping with homework might be what this grandfather is best at. Sure, this is a a very intelligent sign that can be a bit too serious at times, but Capricorn grandfathers are able to solve their grandchildren's problems, especially the homework variety.
  6. Leo (July 23-Aug. 22): Playful, the Leo grandfather sure does know how to keep the fun going. Be careful with this sign, though. While he's adventurous, that competitive streak may mean that he tries to control the situation. He will be a proud grandpa and will tell his kids exactly how to parent.
  7. Cancer (June 21-July 21): This is a happy family sign, so Cancer grandfathers are compassionate and caring and love their family deeply. However, don't let this crab fool you. They also have a secret tendency to be a bit moody, especially when they aren't feeling appreciated. While you don't need to treat this sign with kid gloves, you do need to let them know you care.
  8. Gemini (May 21-June 20): Half of this sign makes a great grandfather. Known for being good at everything they attempt, Geminis love helping their grandchildren learn new things. However, they also have a tendency to become taciturn and need quiet time, so make sure that their grandchildren know how to let papa sit and rest. When he's recharged, he'll be ready to go.
  9. Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22): You know that grandpa who always has a sweet in his pocket? That's this sign. Libras love spoiling their family, and in the interest of keeping everything fair and square will always have sweets and treats for their loved ones. While this sign can be really peaceful, if there is a fight among the grandchildren, he will not stand for it.
  10. Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21): Feisty and passionate, this sign sure does know how to party, even if it's a children's party. Their love for their family is practically unmatched, which is why they will do anything for their grandchildren, even if it means telling the parents what to do. He may be right, so listen to him.
  11. Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21): Sagittariuses love their families, but they're not very good with being overly emotional and cuddly. While this might not be the sign for sitting together on the couch, they are amazing at long walks, talking, and being a great listener for their grandchildren.
  12. Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): This amazing family planner loves getting everyone together. While he expects a lot from everyone, especially if he's gone through the process of planning a family party, he really enjoys seeing everyone have fun. Being a grandparent may not come easy to this sign, as Virgos are not known for asking for help.
