This Hospital Charged a New Dad $40 to Hold His Baby

At one hospital, a new parent can opt for skin-to-skin contact after delivery, but they are going to have to pay for it.

New dad and Reddit user halfthrottle learned this the hard way after receiving an itemized hospital bill for his newborn's Sept. 4 birth and posted a photo of the charges. The parents were billed a total $13,280.49, and the statement attributes $39.35 to skin-to-skin contact after a C-section.

"The nurse let me hold the baby on my wife's neck/chest," he wrote. "Even borrowed my camera to take a few pictures for us. Everyone involved in the process was great, and we had a positive experience. We just got a chuckle out of seeing that on the bill."
