Joanna Gaines Said Having a Fifth Child Has Actually "Relaxed" Her — Allow Her to Explain

Joanna Gaines is rolling with life's many surprises. The 40-year-old former Fixer Upper host and Magnolia cofounder recently opened up about welcoming her fifth child in an endearing interview with People. "I thought I was done," Joanna said, "and then we had Crew." Indeed, on June 23, 2018, Crew joined the Gaines family, which also includes 9-year-old Emmie Kay, 10-year-old Duke, 12-year-old Ella Rose, and 14-year-old Drake.

"If you ever want to feel young again, have a baby at 40."

Despite her already sizable brood, Joanna said Crew has actually been re-energizing. "I kid with people, 'If you ever want to feel young again, have a baby at 40,'" she said. "It's brought this whole new thing for me where I'm a lot more laid-back. People joke that I'm the 'Fun Jo' now." How is that possible, you might ask? Well, having five children keeps her on her toes, to say the least. Joanna explained: "I realized there has to be spontaneity, and schedules kind of go out the door. It's like, 'Hey, if I don't get to it, it's fine.' I've just relaxed so much more, and it's been fun for me."

It doesn't hurt, of course, that Crew is ridiculously cute. Joanna said there's even a sign-up sheet at work for people who want to hold him! "He's my little sidekick. He comes to work with me every day and goes to all my meetings," she said. As for whether or not a sixth baby is in the cards, Joanna said, "No plans for another baby . . . but then again, we've never been planners anyway."
